Identify the exact product
Request current front and back label photographs. Match the name, formulation, pack size, ingredients and directions. Catalogue pictures help identify an item, but packaging can change. Similar names do not establish identical contents.
Consider everything you take
Include prescribed medicines, over-the-counter products, other supplements and allergies in the conversation. Do not assess one purchase in isolation. Keep a single list to share with your pharmacist or doctor.
Define a realistic purpose
Ask what benefit is claimed, what supports it, the ongoing cost and when to review use. Be cautious about promises spanning many unrelated illnesses. The NCCIH guide provides a starting point for questions about supplements.
Read the source in context
Sources help explain the context and limits of the information; they do not endorse the centre.
